This is a very stylish and great quality 3 piece silver plated cruet or condiment set, consisting of a mustard pot and 2 salt servers. It is made by WMF of Germany and date from around 1910. WMF is the abbreviation for Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, which in English means Wurtemberg Metalware Factory. WMF was created in 1880 after the successful merger of two Wurtemberg foundries, the Geislingen factory belonging to Daniel Straub (Straub & Sohn) and the Esslingen factory of Alfred Ritter A. The first foundry was commercially more successful, while the second one was using a more advanced technology of galvanic silver deposition, which was first applied in Esslingen by the German chemist Carl Haegele (in 1871), the brother-in-law of Alfred Ritter. In 1881, after the retirement of Daniel Straub, Carl Haegele became the managing director of WMF. In the same year the Esslingen factory was dismantled and its equipment was incorporated into the Geislingen foundry. During the next thirty years WMF experienced a period of rapid expansion, which lasted until the beginning of the World War in 1914. The salts are 7 cms long, 4.5 cms wide and a height of 6 cms. The mustard pot is 5.5 cms in height and 7 cms in diameter. All are of good proportions. The pieces, including the blue liners, are all in reasonable condition for their age, but do remember these are antique pieces so do not expect a new look. The inside frames of the pate is worn and tarnished as seen in the images. There is a small chip to one of the blue liners as shown. Any questions please do ask.
